The chapter was organized May 28, 1923.

This chapter was first known as the Darien Chapter DAR, but in 1939 it was granted permission to change its name to Philip Allen Chapter in honor of the Revolutionary War Soldier, Philip Allen, whose grave in Mount Philip Cemetery, Allen Grove, was marked by the Darien Chapter on May 28, 1939.
