History of Fond du Lac Chapter

The Fond du Lac Chapter was organized January 20, 1900, when the national society was less than ten years old and the state organization less than three.

Our organizing regent was Mrs. Virginia (Tallmadge) Faulkes, who had helped her sister form the Milwaukee Chapter named for their ancestor, Benjamin Tallmadge, but who had transferred her membership to Fond du Lac so that she might participate in our activities. She was unable, however, to become our first regent, and acted as registrar to help Mrs. Hattie Sackett, as she took that first regency.

According to national records it is interesting to note that Mrs. Virginia Tallmadge (Mrs. E. W.) was appointed organizing regent and confirmed June 4, 1896. Her regency expired by limitation February 7, 1900. By authorization of the National Board of Management Mrs. Hattie Brown Sackett  (Howard) was appointed organizing regent February 7, 1900, and the Fond du Lac Chapter was organized February 9, 1900.
