The Milwaukee chapter NSDAR was organized on February 14, 1893, by Mrs. James Sidney Peck at her home in Milwaukee. She had been appointed by the National Society as Wisconsin State Regent. She was also the founder of the State Society and was the first State Regent from 1892 to 1902. The Chapter was named  "Milwaukee Chapter" in honor of the city of Milwaukee.
