Plymouth Chapter was organized November 16, 1907 with Mrs. Lillie C. H. Bamford acting as Organizing Regent. The chapter record indicates that the chapter received a charter on March 7, 1908.

The name Plymouth was chosen for the city in which it was organized. Because of the name choice we must relate how Plymouth city secured its name. A case of romance is woven into the history. On July 1845, a Henry P. Davidson and son, Thomas, arrived in this area from Hartford, Connecticut, looking for a suitable place in which to establish a home and industry. They were attracted here because of the scenic location and also because it was near a spring. Other settlers followed. A community location was chosen along the Mullett River. Time came to choose a name. Many suggestions were made, but young Thomas Davidson wished to have it named for Plymouth, Connecticut, where his sweetheart had lived and died.
